Historical In the 1950s, the Spanish architect and designer Barba Corsini was commissioned to renovate the top floor of the Casa Milà building in Barcelona into separate apartments, and to provide these with lighting and furniture. This building was designed in 1901 by world-renowned architect Antoni Gaudí. Today, it is a world heritage site and is popularly called La Pedrera , which means stone quarry. Corsini designed the floor lamp Pedrera for this project, which was inspired by Gaudí’s architecture. The cylindrical shape of the hole pattern resembles the Gaudí chimneys. The metal frame reflects the architecture of the arched roof. In 1990, the floor lamp was rediscovered by Joaquim Ruiz Millet during the renovation of La Pedrera.
