Gubi Ronde Ø40 Pendant Black/White

Contemporary design This modern interpretation of the classic pendant lamp almost looks as if it is made of ceramic because of its hand-turned aluminium shade with matt lacquer. The lampshade really is made of aluminium. Both the interior and exterior sides are powder coated. The inside is painted white to provide better reflection. In contrast to the predominantly downward light of conventional ceiling lights, the Round also shines light through the spout-like opening, which casts a soft glow on the ceiling. The sleek design of the Ronde stands for timeless aesthetics and has the potential to become a future design classic. The philosophy The philosophy behind the designs of Schick aligns well with the way of thinking of the Gubi lighting company. A design must be original and tell a story: “My goal is to design products with a personality that are timeless and easy to understand. They must be easy to use, in production and even in their idea, without coming across as dull or lifeless. Often, a few minor changes or unexpected details are needed to give a product a lively character. The challenge is always to find the right balance without being pushy.” Organic curves The Ronde pendant lamp is the first design created by Oliver Schick for Gubi and was introduced in 2013. The aluminium bell-shaped shade brings to mind the traditional archetype of a lamp. A unique detail is the opening at the top with an overhanging lip, reminiscent of a vase or amphora. The Ronde is in fact the word for round, circular or rotating in several languages. But it also refers to the flat rough piece of metal that is used for the pressing metal, which rotates around a mould core to create a three-dimensional object. The details The Ronde pendant lamp is available in two sizes, each available in the following colours: matt white, rust red, dove grey, anthracite or charcoal. It comes with a 5-meter-long textile cord. The smaller model with a diameter of 20 cm, the Gubi Ronde 20, can of course be found in our shop, as always at a great price.
