Gubi Pedrera H2O Table lamp Black

History In 1955, the architect and designer Barba Corsini was given the honourable task of redesigning the interior of the top floor of the world-renowned Spanish apartment block Casa Milà by Antoni Gaudí, which is popularly known as “La Pedrera” . To this end, Corsini created the Pedrera lamp specifically for the apartments in the famous building in Barcelona. The inspiration for this design-award-winning and internationally recognised lamp was the unusual cylindrical chimneys with their characteristic hole pattern. The design of the arched roof of the La Pedrera apartment block is reflected in the base of the lamp. Collection In 2010, this unique lamp collection was rediscovered and re-released by the traditional Danish brand Gubi. The Pedrera collection includes a floor lamp, table lamps and pendant lamps. All of these items make use of a unique double shade. The perforated metal shade on the outside is wet-painted. The inside is made of white polyethylene, giving the outside surface a look similar to textile.The thoughtful and sophisticated design has lost none of its originality in the past decades. The designer Barba Corsini once described his favourite architectural and interior style as “powerful simplicity”. Classical and modern The elegant sizes of the PD1 table lamp from the Pedrera Collection by Gubi makes it suitable for side tables, sideboards and bedside tables. This table lamp subtly emits a pleasantly diffused light where most of it shines upwards. This small but expressive lamp resembles a lantern and is both classic and modern at the same time.
