Venetian design

In 1981, Foscarini was established on the island of Murano, famous for its hand-blown Murano glass. So, it is not surprising that the first designs of Foscarini were mostly made of glass.

After Foscarini concentrated on designer lighting, it moved to the Venetian mainland in 1994. Foscarini quickly grew into an innovative designer brand where its focus was no longer glass. The unique collaboration with Diesel helped Foscarini reinforce its status and expand its market even further.

Original designer lighting

Foscarini believes it is important to develop original products, so the development phase for a new product can take a very long time.

Both materials and design are carefully analysed. This leads to innovative designs that can withstand the fickleness of trends and become true classics.

One such classic is the Foscarini Twiggy designed by Marc Sadler. This lamp is reminiscent of a fishing line because of the super thin fibreglass rod and the large lampshade.

From glass to Kevlar fibre and concrete

The passion for originality in design goes hand in hand with an interest in new materials. In addition to the special Murano glass, Foscarini also uses a lot of other materials, such as polyethylene, wood and aluminium. Even Kevlar fibre, fibreglass, carbon fibre and concrete are used in designs.

A great example is the Aplomb pendant lamp, an elegant pendant lamp made entirely of concrete. In contrast, the Foscarini Mite is made of fibreglass, carbon fibre and Kevlar fibre. The materials used creates a cosy diffused light.

Foscarini lights are conceived as design objects that transform spaces: we bring beauty, we stir emotions.
