The story behind the Flos IC Lights

Designers sometimes find inspiration in the strangest of places. For Michael Anastassiades, it was YouTube. A few years back he browsing on YouTube (probably looking at cat videos). At a certain moment, he saw a video on contact juggling. These artists use an acrylic ball to perform all sorts of tricks. For those interested: this is a fun example.

These jugglers gave Michael Anastassiades ideas. And so this simple ball was the centrepiece of his latest creation.

The IC initials is derived from the codes that English police officers use to identify a person’s ethnicity. IC1 stands for Caucasian, IC2 for Mediterranean, IC3 for African, etc. Michael considered this as a nice way to differentiate the different designs.

For every room in the house
