Artemide Platea is an ultramodern wall-mounted lamp designed by Daniela Puppa in collaboration with Francesca Martelli. Manufactured in Italy, this innovative wall lamp was launched in 2010, featuring the cutting edge technology that allows a two-way diffusion of indirect lighting – through the distinctive slit on the face of the lamp and from the light diffuser found at the back. Thanks to its elegant, discrete design this lamp can function in almost every interior.

Aesthetic and Functional Features

When it comes to functionality and stylishness, Artemide Platea is definitely a wall-mounted luminaire to consider. The classy and sophisticated look of Artemide Platea does not in any way detract from the functional purpose for which the lamp is primarily created. The rear diffuser, which casts indirect light on a relatively wide expanse and across all sides of the wall, is complemented by the light emitted from the uniquely crafted slit/opening on the front area; thus, ensures adequate, but not overpowering or harsh illumination.

Materials and Technical Details

Apart from the aesthetic and functional considerations, Artemide Platea is designed with convenience in mind, which is sufficiently and efficiently attained with the lamp’s seamless dimension at 400 mm (Length) x 400 (Width) x 100 mm (Depth/Thickness). The lamp unit and reflector are a fantastic creation of painted methacrylate material, while the opal methacrylate rear diffuser is truly a product of amazing craftsmanship. The Platea effectively works with just one energy-efficient 42-watt (230V/GX24q Base) compact fluorescent type of light source, which comes included.
