The Foscarini Twiggy was designed in 2006 by Marc Sadler for Foscarini. It wasn’t the first collaboration between the Italian brand and the French origin designer. In 2001 he had already won a Compasso D’oro Award for the Foscarini Mite and Tite lamps. The Twiggy however, became an instant design classic.
The story goes that one day Marc Sadler walked in at Foscarini’s studio with a fishing rod. It had inspired him to design the Twiggy. To make it easier to explain his idea, he just brought his inspiration source along.
Just like a fishing rod or a tent support, the Twiggy consists of several sections. This makes this slender floor lamp more flexible and sturdier. A simple system of counterweights hidden in the top of the diffuser makes the lamp adaptable in height with 5cm intervals. The large, round base is also inspired on a fishing rod placed in the ground. It’s minimal thickness makes it able to slide it under the couch, table or even the carpet.
The Foscarini Twiggy has drie E27 lamp sockets, which support halogen lamps up to 70W. More recently, Foscarini also launched an LED version. The power chord comes with an included dim switch. This beautiful floor lamp comes in four colours: white, black, red and yellow. It measures 1700 x 600 x 2100 mm (L x W x H).
The Twiggy Terra is complete and delivered with all additional accessories.
Only the light bulbs have to be ordered separately.
No, this light and dimmer will only work properly with halogen.
