We have to go back to the beginning of the twenties to find out how the famous battery producing brand Duracell took its first steps. Samuel Ruben, an intelligent scientist and Philip Rogers Mallory, a determined producer of tungsten filament wire are responsible for the birth of the company. Ruben was looking for equipment for a certain experiment and decided to consult the P.R. Mallory Company for this. Subsequently they decided to combine their strengths and started a cooperation. This collaboration formed the basis for the Duracell brand, which was going to be created a few years later.
The rise of the alkaline batteries
The AAA battery was invented in the fifties by Samuel Ruben. They derived from the need for smaller and more durable alkaline manganese batteries to serve in the Eastman Kodak cameras. The batteries were then produced by Mallory. The success of the AAA batteries in photography put the company on the map. This ultimately led to the foundation of the Duracell brand as we know it in the year 1964.
