The Flos Taraxacum is an iconic product. It is the first product from Flos that was launched in 1960’s. The Castiglioni brothers were all behind the conceptualization and development of Flos Taraxacum. At that time addressing the three dimensional design was a challenge for all lighting designers, which was taken by hand and cared to its end by Achille and Giacomo Castiglioni for their in Italy based design lighting brand Flos.

Flos Taraxacum in its specialty is the pioneer designer illumination device that has a 3D shape. The concept was the improvisation and extension of a cocoon from the USA. The Castiglioni brothers had imported the cocoon and put a powder coated steel structure inside of it. They then sprayed a special kind of cocoon resin, which is transparent in color, for finishing purpose. It got the polished look and has resemblances with sea corals. It is designed to be a suspension light diffuser instead of any mounting base – which is natural for any 3-D illumination device design. Flos Taraxacum has a special kind of lamp preference instead of ordinary incandescent light and that lamp or bulb is Max 100W E27 HSGS/F. Flos Taraxacum is designer lighting diffuser which is meant for interior use.
